Welcome to my class! I am so excited to have your child in my third grade class. I am looking forward to a great year. You will receive the letter below at open house before school starts but I have it here in case it gets lost. This year, we will have one big project which can be found under the "News and Events" tab. All information is on the projects page and I will also send some information home with your children so please keep an eye out for that. I want to encourage you to be reading to your children for at least 10-15 minutes a night. Reading to them can help them improve their vocabulary as well as fluency and comprehension skills. All emergency protocols will be gone over during the first week of school and we will have drills during the first two weeks to ensure that your children are safe and know what to do in case something happens. I just wanted to give you a heads up on that in case they come home talking about a fire, tornado, or lock down during the first couple of weeks. If something really does happen, then parents will be notified. If you wish to help out with donations to the class, class fund, or teaching materials, there is a page in the "For Parents" section of this website. That page will contain my Amazon wishlist, Walmart supply list, and my Venmo and PayPal usernames if you just want to send money. Please no checks if you can help it. I prefer cash but if you want to send money through one of those then that is fine. If you order from Amazon and have it delivered to the school or my house, please put either your name or your child's name in the note section when you purchase the product. This will allow me to know who has sent what. I am hoping to have all grades for the week in by Friday before school gets out. If that does not happen then I will try my hardest to get them up over the weekend. If your student starts to fall behind, then I will let you know. If that happens, then we will have a conference to talk about what needs to happen and what different options there are. My classroom rules and expectations along with consequences can be found under the "For Students" tab on this website. I will go over all of them in detail with the students on the first day of class. I expect a few bumps in the road for the first few weeks until they get used to routines but after that they should know better. I think that about covers everything. Again, all of this will be gone over during open house and this is simply here for reminders. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions! My number and email can be found on the "Home" page of the website. - Mrs. Davis
